Like the rest of our bodies, our faces can show age through various signs: aging spots, sunspots, dry skin, loose skin and wrinkles. Without surgery, no home remedy is going to remove these signs, but some products may help to slow some of the signs, or at least provide us with healthy looking skin. The anti-aging industry in the United States is worth $88 billion, but many of the products have no more scientific basis than home remedies. - Sunspots are discolorations of the skin that appear on areas of the body repeatedly exposed to the sun, usually in people over the age of 40. Although they are a sign of sun damage, they aren't dangerous. They do, however, give away age when they appear on the face. Dab lemon on the sunspots or aging spots. Lemon contains citric acid, which can act as a mild bleach.
- During normal aging the skin loses oil glands and it can become dry and itchy. Fortunately, rubbing olive oil into the skin after a shower could add some much-needed moisture back and keep the skin from getting too dry.
- To brighten up dull skin, exfoliate at least once a week with a gentle exfoliant. Mix oats with one banana, some honey and an egg to make a homemade facial scrub. Rub it over the face gently to remove dead skin and brighten the face.
- There is no easy remedy for wrinkles; try to nourish the skin with vitamin E and aloe vera. Rub it into the face day and night to keep the skin in good condition. Use small circular motions with your fingers to massage it in.
