How to Make Quilted Notecards
- 1). Place a piece of recycled felt down on a table. Center one piece of the fusible web 1/4 inch in from the edges of the felt. Follow this with a piece of acrylic felt and another piece of fusible web. Finishing the layers by setting the print fabric right side up over them all.
- 2). Drape a piece of scrap fabric over the layers without disturbing them to protect the recycled felt from heat. Follow the directions on the fusible package to iron the layers together.
- 3). Remove the scrap fabric and sew all the way around the layering edges with a zigzag stitch. Add fray check on the edges to prevent your fabric piece from fraying and allow approximately an hour for the fray check to dry.
- 4). Follow your preferred quilt pattern, stencil, or the outline of the pattern on the fabric to quilt the layers together. Don't try to get the quilting too intricate on such a small piece. Instead, make your quilt stitches bold, larger, and whimsical.
- 5). Spread a fair amount of tacky glue over the recycled felt up to 1/2 inch from the edges. Center and firmly press your piece of cardstock over the glued area and allow about an hour for the glue to dry.
- 6). Stitch around the edges of the cardstock with a second round of zigzag stitch to secure. Fill out any information on the cardstock using a permanent marker such as your name and the reason for the card, or you can turn it into a postcard by adding an address on the right side of the paper and leaving space for a stamp.
