Crime writing has been on the rise for a long time.
With new crime shows on TV and more and more best-selling crime novels hitting the bookshelves, who wouldn't want to be a crime writer? Crime writing is usually intense, full of mystery and suspense.
However, you can't simply sit down and start writing a crime novel, unless you have experience or formal training in the law enforcement fields or in law already - and they are recent.
Writing a crime novel takes the knowledge of a lawyer and various police and other government agencies.
Do Your Homework - Study the topic of crime by visiting your local police station and interviewing an officer.
Check out your local library for resources on crime.
You will need to get to know a lot about crime - probably more than you even imagined.
You need to get to know court proceedings, criminal proceedings, and police investigations, use of poisons, proper crime scene analysis, and more.
The best part is that you do not need to be a graduate of law school and criminal behaviors.
You just need to do the research required.
The Internet and your local library will give you a good source of this information for free.
However, you should also visit your favorite bookstore for books that you can have next to you while you are writing so you can turn to them for reference if you need to.
