How to Make Sea Shell Garland
- 1). Tie a knot in one end of your string. The knot should be large enough to keep the shell from slipping off. Set up the shells in the way you want to the garland to look.
- 2). Use a drill to make a hole in the shell. It should be large enough to fit the string through. You want the shells to face forward and not hang sideways. Some shells and starfish are very delicate. You must drill in a place where it will not crack the shell. You can go just a little way down one point of the starfish and drill right though. Some of the shells may have a natural opening, making the drill unnecessary for those treasures.
- 3). Slide the shells onto your string. Tie a knot at the other end once you have all your shells in place.
- 4). Move each shell over a bit. Place a drop of glue on the string. You want to then move the shells back onto the glue. Lay the garland down as you do. Allow the glue to dry for about an hour. This will keep the shells from moving if bumped or hung in a windy area. Put a couple drops of glue on each knot also to keep it from coming untied.
