ADHD And Bedwetting - Problems And Solutions

103 15
There is no direct link between ADHD and bedwetting and the two are not necessarily connected at all.
However, there does seem to be a higher incidence of bedwetting among ADHD children.
One study in the Southern Medical Journal did actually show that six year olds with ADHD were three times more likely to have this problem than normal children.
In fact, there is no research that actually shows there is a connection but the fact that ADHD children have attention and distraction problems is a factor that cannot be ignored.
Sleep patterns may also be a factor in the ADHD and bedwetting debate.
Experts have argued that when we reach Stage 4 of sleep, this is the deepest possible stage and there are very low levels of oxygen circulating in the brain.
That causes similar symptoms to ADHD such as lack of attention and distraction.
The child may not be getting enough oxygen at that stage to alert him to the need to void Some children who are suffering from ADHD and bedwetting may actually be under pressure for some other emotional or traumatic reason which may be related to a stressful situation in the home.
This should be considered.
There may also be an underlying medical cause such as a bladder infection.
We can interrupt their sleep early on and make sure that they go to the bathroom so that they enter the Stage 4 of sleep later and this is less likely to cause accidents.
Drinking less in the few hours before bedtime has also worked for some parents.
Some parents buy an electronic device which will make a noise or bleep once moisture of any kind is detected in the pajamas or bed linen.
This wakes the child and he can get up to go to the toilet.
The child will over time learn to respond to the full bladder signal from his brain without the electronic device and this is a good temporary solution.
There are those who advocate that an anti depressant for pediatric use is given to the child but this seems to be a bit exaggerated.
That might keep the bed dry but could also unleash a whole series of other problems such as careful health monitoring for possible cardiac conditions and so on.
In my opinion the problem can be solved by using the electronic device as mentioned above but also by looking at homeopathic medicine because this can restore the lost balance in a child and treat him holistically for this condition.
Once the child is calmer, the ADHD and bedwetting problem will gradually disappear and there will be much happier and dryer mornings to look forward to.
Why not check out what ADHD homeopathic remedies involve and how thy are a solution for all ADHD problems.
