How to Administer Liquid Eye Medication
- 1). Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
- 2). Place your forefinger under your lower eyelid and pull downward to form a small pocket on the inside of your eyelid.
- 3). Hold the medication in your opposite hand and place the backs of your fingers against the bridge of your nose and forehead, bringing the eye drop container close to your eye. Be careful not to allow the dropper to come in contact with your eye as this can result in contamination of the medication.
- 4). Tilt your head back and squeeze the bottle gently, delivering the proper amount of drops. Make sure not to squeeze too tightly so you don't deliver too much medication.
- 5). Close your eye for approximately 3 to 4 minutes to keep the medication in contact with your eye.
- 6). Wash off any excess medication that may have dripped on your face.
