How to Make a Crystal Bead Bird
- 1). Take your satin cord and put the two ends together. Take the loop that forms in the middle and thread it through the lanyard or key ring. Grab the ends of the cord and pull through the loop to create a half-hitch knot to attach the cord to the lanyard. This will then give you two sections of cord hanging down.
- 2). Separate the cords to the right and left side. The first row begins with four brown beads. Thread the right side cord through the beads going right to left. Thread the left side cord through the bead going left to right. Your cords will now be on different sides with the right cord becoming the left and vice versa.
- 3). Take two brown beads. Place one on the right side cord and flip it on its side. Take the cord and thread back through the four beads in Step 2. Repeat this with the left side. You should now have a top row with four center beads and one bead on each side for the ears.
- 4). Make the second row by threading the right side cord through one brown, one black, one orange, one black and one brown to place the cord on the left side. Take the left side cord and thread through the same beads to the right. This technique will be used to complete the remaining rows. Row three's order is two brown, three tan and two brown. Row four is two brown, four tan and two brown. Row five is two brown, three tan and two brown. Row six is two brown, two tan and two brown. Row seven is two brown, one tan and two brown.
- 5). Take the right side of the cord and wrap it around the first bead on that side and thread it through the second bead. Pull it down and thread it through an orange bead below to make the foot. Take the cord back into the second bead from row seven and thread it completely through the rest of the row to the left side. Repeat this on the left side.
- 6). Tie a double knot at each end of the cord and your crystal bead bird is complete.
