How to Drill a Hole Through a Concrete Wall
- 1). Mark the center location of the proposed hole, using the lumber pencil.
- 2). Ensure that the hammer-drill operation mode is set to "drill"; operating the hammer-drill on the "hammer" mode while equipped with a drill bit will cause severe damage to the drill bit. The mode setting is most commonly a small switch located near the trigger.
- 3). Press the drill bit tip against the mark made in Step 1, adjusting the direction of the electric hammer-drill and drill bit to be square (horizontally and vertically) with the wall, if necessary; it is not always necessary for a hole to be drilled square with the wall, and will vary depending on the hole's purpose.
- 4). Pull the trigger of the electric hammer-drill to engage the motor and begin drilling into the concrete wall. Apply minimal pressure while the motor is running, as the drill will do most of the work.
- 5). Slowly pull the hammer-drill and drill bit from the wall once the desired depth is achieved, and release the trigger to cease the motor and drill.
