How to Remove a Hot Search Bar
- 1). Close all Internet browsers that are open on your computer.
- 2). Go to your "Start" menu on the bottom task bar. Click on "Control Panel" and choose the "Add or Remove programs" or "Uninstall" option.
- 3). Browse the list of programs for "Hotbar." Choose the "Hotbar" file and click "Uninstall" or "Remove." Do not reinstall the Hotbar if you are prompted to do so.
- 4). Click on your "Registry cleaner software" to open it. If you do not have one, there are several available to download for free at Cnet.com (see resources below.)
- 5). Click on "run registry cleaner" or "run registry scan" on your "registry cleaner software." The registry cleaner will remove the "Hotbar" software permanently. Once the cleaner runs, it will show you a list of registries that are linked to "Hotbar." Only delete the following by clicking on them and selecting the "delete" option on your registry cleaner:
"HKey_Current_User\Software\Hotbar"
"HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Hotbar"
"HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\B195B3B3-8A05-11D3-97A4-0004ACA6948E"
"HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform\Hotbar 3.0" - 6). Close your registry cleaner. Restart your computer. Once your computer is back on, click on your antivirus software. Click on "Run scan" on your antivirus menu. If you don't have an antivirus software, download "AVG Anti-Virus Free" to be able to follow this step. This is reliable software that will delete all leftover files linked to the "Hotbar" software.
- 7). Restart your computer again. Once your computer goes back on, the "Hotbar" software will be deleted.
