How to Use Inking in a Scrapbook
- 1). Hold the ink pad at a 45 degree angle against the edge of the card stock or patterned paper you wish to ink.
- 2). Rub the ink pad against the paper to obtain the desired depth of color.
- 3). Add more colors as desired. For an effective and vintage look, start with the lightest shades on the inside of the page and progress, adding darker shades as you reach the outer edges. Use three to four shades within the same color family, such as browns or grays and blacks, for a realistic effect.
- 4). Ink completely around the paper for a finished and dimensional look to your scrapbook. If you choose to layer papers, ink each piece. Remember to ink tags and other paper embellishments as well.
- 5). Ink a photo using solvent ink, which won't smudge or smear, to add a vintage, old-fashioned look to photos. Make sure the photo is a copy so you don't ruin valuable prints.
