How to Efficiently Pack Your Drawer
- 1). Empty your drawers and lay them in an area where you can organize the contents. A floor or bed works. Group like items and purge the things you don't need or use anymore. Wash clothing items that smell sour.
- 2). Fold clothes efficiently. For example, lay a T-shirt flat out, then fold in the sides so the width of the shirt is the same size as the collar area. Fold the sleeves over toward the edges, and fold the bottom of the shirt up in half. Next, fold the T-shirt again either in halves or thirds so the height of the shirt is the same as the height of your drawers. Ideally, all your T-shirts should be folded to the same size.
- 3). Utilize drawer organizers. These work well to separate socks from underwear and T-shirts from shorts. Some drawer dividers slide so you can custom fit them as desired. Plastic and tin containers also work well to organize odds and ends in your drawers, such as buttons and loose change. Larger containers, such as shoe boxes, work well for your folded underwear and socks.
- 4). Pack the drawers by putting like items together. Place T-shirts, underwear, pajamas and shorts in the drawers upright, one in front of the other like a filing system, rather than flat on top of one another. This way, you can see all of them when you open the drawer. Group like colors together, if desired.
- 5). Leave a little bit of breathing room for your drawers. Don't pack them so tightly that you can barely close the drawer. This will prevent the items from getting musty and leave you with room for other items as you obtain them.
