    Features

    • Stand-alone DivX players include "Play" "Fast Forward," "Rewind," "Pause" and "Stop" controls, as well as a volume control. The players also include a "Menu" function that lets you select specific movie chapter points and gives the ability to access special features that may be part of a movie. Stand-alone DivX players do not require additional plug-ins, known as codecs, or special drivers.

    Availability

    • You can download a free DivX Plus player directly from DivX Inc. by navigating your Internet browser to divx.com and clicking the "Free Download" button. The player will download automatically to your computer. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation process. If the player doesn't automatically download, click the "start your download" link. DivX players are also available from computer and electronics stores and online software websites specializing in multimedia players and files, including CNET, DivXmovies and Codecs.com.

    System Requirements

    • DivX players require a system running Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit), Vista SP1 (32- and 64-bit), XP SP3 (32-bit) with DirectX 9 or better, or a Mac running OS 10.4 or later. For Windows systems, an Intel Pentium III or better processor running at 733 Megahertz (MHz) or better, or an AMD Duron 650 or equivalent is needed, along with 32 Megabytes (MB) of video RAM and an 800-by-600 pixels display with 24-bit color for standard-definition video content. For high-definition content, you'll need 64MB of video RAM and a 1,280-by-720 pixels display with 24-bit color. Your system also needs a stereo sound card with DirectSound drivers. Mac systems require an Intel CPU running at 1 Gigahertz (GHz) or faster and 512MB of RAM. If you are running a non-Intel system, your Mac needs a 500 MHZ G4 or faster processor and QuickTime 7.
