How to Memorize a Verse
- 1). Read the verse over and over. Look at it and think about each word while you read.
- 2). Copy the verse by hand several times. Do this in your notebook until you feel comfortable writing the verse without an aid.
- 3). Practice reading the words aloud to yourself and others. Stand up and close your eyes once you have a feel for certain parts.
- 4). Attempt to read the verse aloud without the book in sight. Look only when you get stuck or need assistance with a particular word.
- 5). Have a friend look at the verse while you recite it aloud from memory. Ask for cues when you feel you need them.
- 6). Repeat the verse in your head or aloud as you go about your day. Working the verse into your unconscious and secondary memory will help it set in.
- 7). Organize several friends or family members for a small gathering. Recite the verse for them once you've reached the stage where you're comfortable attempting it aloud in front of a group.
