Endometriosis - Pain Relieving Home Remedies and Diet Changes

103 15
This is a very painful disorder that occurs in women only [due to the reproductive organs], it is said that the tissue/cells found in the uterus lining get implanted outside the uterus and begin to 'grow' where they land [ovaries, fallopian tubes or pelvic region].
This is caused by menstrual blood flowing back through the fallopian tubes instead of out through the vagina [known as trans-tubal migration].
Symptoms * pain during the menstrual cycle * painful intercourse * pelvic pain * painful urination * irregular or heavy bleeding during the period * lower back pain * fatigue * swelling of the lower abdomen The above are some of the more common symptoms for this problem, not all endometriosis sufferers have symptoms and therefore are not even aware that they have this problem, these are the lucky ones as no pain is experienced and they can go on with their daily lives without the pain and discomfort the unlucky sufferers have.
Causes There are no confirmed causes [viral infection etc] for this problem as yet, some theories have been developed however and these are 1) Retrograde menstruation [also know as trans-tubal migration] - backward flowing of menstrual blood 2) Blood or lymph system - carries the endometrial cells through to other parts of the body 3) Predisposition - carried in the persons genes [hereditary] Home remedies 1) Herbs - chaste berry, cohosh, false unicorn root and cramp bark, made up as directed are said to.
relieve some of the symptoms of this condition.
Ginger tea will help control any nausea that may be present.
Using the leaves and flowers of rosemary, dandelion root and leaves and milk thistle seeds will also assist in relieving some of the discomfort felt during this time.
2) Ice - use of a ice-pack on the lower abdomen will assist in easing any inflammation, the same is said of a heat pad, try both and see which one works for you.
3) Fruit and vegetable juices - make up a mixture to suit your taste and drink this throughout the day [at room temperature].
Recommended fruit - dark grapes, pineapple, papaya and mango, find a vegetable or two that you like and mix in with the recommended fruit [the only vegetable I actually enjoy the juice of is carrots].
Diet Ensure your diet is rich in vitamin B and omega 3 fatty acids, increase your fiber, whole grain, vegetable and fruit intake.
Avoid all the usual 'bad' foods like sugar, coffee, tobacco and alcohol.
Consume a well balanced diet at all times to help with the bodies natural 'repair' process.
Pain and discomfort at this time can also be relieved by medication, go to a doctor and seek his or her advice.
