Kids can make an endless array of Christmas crafts using versatile craft felt. Allow kids to create their own holiday gifts using festively colored felt and a few basic craft items. The soft pieces will make thoughtful and inexpensive teacher, friend and family member presents. Use whimsical handmade felt items to decorate your Christmas tree or holiday party spaces. - Kids can proudly display felt Christmas ornaments on the family tree. The Christmas tree-inspired ornaments are made by sewing together two small triangular pieces of green felt and stuffing them with cotton batting. If you prefer not to sew, use a bit of craft glue to secure the felt edges together. Kids can decorate the ornament with small flat-backed beads, sequins or buttons. A piece of brown felt is glued to the bottom of the tree as a stem and a loop of yarn is attached to the top of the ornament for hanging.
- Kids can make their own festive pins to wear on Christmas or to give as charming gifts. Cut a snowman shape out of white felt, or a Santa Claus hat shape out of red felt. The snowman shape is decorated with a triangular orange felt nose, a black felt mouth and buttons and tiny plastic googly eyes. Kids can enhance the Santa Claus hat by attaching a small white pom-pom on top and gluing a strip of white felt across the bottom. Glue pin backings to the backs of the felt shapes to create wearable pins.
- Children will enjoy presenting or carrying Christmas gifts in a holiday-inspired handmade tote bag. Cut two equal-size squares of red or green felt and stitch or glue them together. Handles are created by gluing two strips of felt to either side of the top of the bag. Kids can cut various Christmas shapes, such as trees, stars, snowmen and angels, out of felt and glue them to the bag. Shiny flat-backed beads, tiny jingle bells and embroidered patches also will infuse the felt bag with a festive flair.
