• The Ford Motor Company began marketing the Mercury Villager minivan for the 1993 model year. The product of a partnership between Ford and Japanese automaker Nissan, the Villager was produced through the 2002 model year. As part of the model's first generation, the 1996 Villager came in GS, LS trim levels, as well as a luxury Nautica edition.
