Course

• Cardiac CT training occurs through a series of lectures, audio and hands-on experience. Certification in cardiac CT training requires completion of two level courses. Level 1 is entry level, whereas Level 2 incorporates all the basics into clinical practice. Courses are in physics, methodologies and clinical practice. Physicians take the CT board examinations at the end of the course to ensure certification.
  
  

Location

• Teaching hospitals around the country offer cardiac CT training to physicians. The majority of courses are taught at major institutions such as Johns Hopkins University. Small community hospitals also offer the cardiac CT training for physicians, like Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
  
  

Future

• According to the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, cardiac CT training programs began in 2003 and continue to grow. Programs train both cardiologists and radiologists to use advanced diagnostic tools adeptly.
