The inspiring side is the drive to live and achieve and excel.
Then here is the dark side of human nature.
In spite of those who will criticize the example I use, and the fact I call it the dark side, the reality is that the dark side of humanity is like water: Water flows at the lowest level by the easiest path available.
Without the opportunity for excellence, humanity flows to the lowest common denominator.
One of communism's principles is From each according to his ability to each according to his need.
The reason that communism is doomed to fail is the reality of human nature.
If the needy are guaranteed to receive from the producers, then there will be fewer and fewer producers and more and more needy.

The guarantee of results for all is the guarantee of failure for all.
Postmodernism is a reactionary response to modernism.
It flowed out of dissolution with the failure of logic and science to improve the human nature.
So now postmoderns put their untested theories into motion in society trying to reconstruct language, believing that this will reconstruct human nature! In the process of reconstruction, the basic principle of elevating human nature has been destroyed.
That principle is opportunity for individual achievement.
When the rules change to a guarantee of results, the reason to succeed is eliminated.
And, human nature tunes out and finds ways to party down.
While all persons are equally deserving of respect, people are not equal in talents, intelligence, gifts, inner drive, etc.
But, as Abe Lincoln said, the fact that some achieve great success is proof that everyone can achieve success.
But, success is different for each person.
One person may believe that success is their own home with a white picket fence and three children, a car, a job and a peaceful life.
Another person may be driven to become very wealthy.
Another person may strive to be the best musician.
And, another may be driven to serve their country in politics or the military.
To demand that all be "equal" is to eliminate diversity.
Just as being the best athlete possible, such as Michael Jordan, is moral and excellent and worthy of admiration, so is the acquisition of wealth or the ascension to fame or power.
Without the possibility to succeed in all legal and moral aptitudes, society loses its diversity and creativity.
Let this thought sink in: When a culture wants to take away the incentive for success and achievement, the first thing that is attacked is wealth.
But, if it is so evil, why are you working so hard to build a strong financial retirement fund? Ask your parents if their quest to create financial stability was evil.
The opportunity for success is essential for the health of a society.
And those who attack financial success as evil are the ones who are sick.
