My Maytag Performa PAV2200 Machine Will Not Stop Filling
- As with almost any home appliance, if the power to the Maytag washer is insufficient, the washing machine won't work as expected. Plug the power cord into a grounded three-prong outlet, and ensure the fuse or circuit breaker does not need to be replaced or reset. If other appliances are connected to the same outlet, move them to a different outlet to improve the power supply to the washing machine.
- Once the power has been checked, inspect the water supply. The hot and cold water faucets should both be turned on all the way and connected firmly to a water hose that extends to the washing machine. If the water faucets are closed partially, the washing machine may not have enough water to fill. Turn each faucet counterclockwise to open.
- Take a good look at the water inlet hoses. Put a few towels down, and remove the hoses from the washing machine. Clean out the filter screens with a small brush, and put the hoses back together. Do not allow the hoses to be bent, knotted or kinked as this prevents water from flowing into the machine.
- The Maytag washing machine uses a control dial to select the desired wash cycle. Push the control dial in, and turn it in a clockwise direction until the arrow points to the chosen wash cycle. Grab the knob on the dial, and pull out firmly to start the washing machine. If the dial is pointed to a wash cycle but is not pulled out, the washer will not work.
- If other troubleshooting efforts have failed to restore normal water flow to the washing machine, turn the washer off and unplug it from the power source. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes, and reconnect power. The motor thermal protector may have tripped and turned off the dryer to protect the motor from overheating. If the unit shuts off suddenly again, leave it disconnected and contact a service repair center for help.
