How to Fix a Kenmore Refrigerator
- 1). Locate the air diffuser in the upper left rear corner of your Kenmore refrigerator and then find the three covers that run from the air diffuser, protecting the electrical wiring (two inside the refrigerator and one inside the freezer).
- 2). Unplug the refrigerator electrical cord from the electrical wall outlet.
- 3). Remove the three cover plates that run from the air diffuser by unfastening the screws with a screwdriver and laying the plates aside in a safe place.
- 4). Find the black thermistor wire that runs from the air diffuser and remove it from the refrigerator by unscrewing it with a screwdriver.
- 5). Locate the locking mechanism of the air diffuser in the freezer section and unlock it by pulling up on the clip, then unplug the wiring connector from the diffuser and pull the air diffuser free from the refrigerator compartment, lifting it out by hand.
- 6). Slide the new air diffuser into position and then lock it down in the freezer section by moving the locking mechanism into place.
- 7). Attach the new black thermistor wire to the refrigerator with a screwdriver and then plug the electrical connector back into the new diffuser.
- 8). Reconnect the cover plates that protect the electrical wiring, using a screwdriver to secure the screws.
- 9). Plug the electrical refrigerator cord back into the wall outlet.
