How to Get Depreciation Checks
- 1). Get an estimate from three roofers. After each roofer has given you an estimate, choose the roofer that you would like to work with. In general, you want to choose the lowest-priced roofer, but you should also pay attention to whether you feel you can trust the roofer to do a high-quality job.
- 2). Hire the roofer. Sign his estimate and mail or fax it to your insurance company. Your insurance company may prepare an estimated check and let you know how much they estimate giving to you. After the work is done, send the final invoice to the insurance company.
- 3). Contact your claims adjuster after he receives your paperwork. Ask him to go over the papers with you. Your adjuster will subtract your insurance deductible from the final invoice. He will then send you a check for this amount.
- 4). Wait two to three weeks to get your check in the mail.
