How to Calculate Total Case Rate

104 11
    • 1). Determine the exact number of total subjects in the study. The number of subjects is usually a set number picked by coordinators of the study. If there is no set number, make sure to count the exact number of subjects.

    • 2). Note how many subjects exhibited signs that would classify them as clinical quarters. Subjects should be observed every day over the duration of the study, and each clinical quarter should be documented.

    • 3). Divide the number of clinical quarters by the total population of subjects in the study.

    • 4). Multiply the resulting number by 100. This percentage will be the total case rate for the study (percentage of clinical quarters out of the total researched population).
