Feel The Wind In Your Sails
During July and August, visitors to Morocco will find relatively strong winds, reaching 25-35 knots, ideal for windsurfing in
Essaouira.
Improved Swell For Windsurfing in Essaouira
These winds can also help to improve the swell that leads to some excellent waves to navigate. However, because Essaouira is blessed with a number of beaches in close proximity, depending on your skill set, you can find windsurfing to suit your abilities.
Essaouira Beach is the main attraction for windsurfing enthusiasts but nearby Sidi Kaouki Beach offers a calmer playground. Here the waves and conditions are more manageable, making this spot perfect for beginners and intermediaries.
Yet, if it is a real adrenaline rush you are after whilst windsurfing in Essaouira then La Grotte - or The Cave as it is affectionately known as - is where you need to be. Here you will find raucous waves throughout the day. It is also thought that the waves here continue long after they have subsided at the other beaches, so don't be surprised to find windsurfers, surfers and kitesurfers all still in the water as evening creeps in.
It is a 10 mile drive from Essaouira but well worth the visit if you are keen to test yourself on the open water.
