How to Adjust the Door Hinges on a Top Mount Frigidaire Refrigerator
- 1). Open the refrigerator door and loosen the lower right screw on the center hinge plate with a Phillips-head screwdriver. The center hinge plate has two mounting screws at the top and one on the bottom. Only turn the screw one complete revolution counterclockwise. Close the refrigerator door.
- 2). Pry the top hinge bracket cover off the top of the refrigerator with a flat-head screwdriver. Loosen the three hex head screws securing the top hinge plate to the top of the refrigerator with a nut driver. Only loosen the three screws enough that the top hinge plate will move with your fingers.
- 3). Open the freezer door completely, so you have access to the two upper screws on the center hinge plate. Loosen the two upper screws on the center hinge plate with the Phillips-head screwdriver. Open the refrigerator door halfway.
- 4). Place a torpedo level across the top of the refrigerator door. Push the handle side of the door up or down as necessary until the door is level. Hold the door level and tighten the tow upper mounting screws on the center hinge plate.
- 5). Swing the refrigerator door open fully and tighten the lower right screw on the center hinge plate. Close the refrigerator door, then the freezer door. The space between the bottom of the freezer door and top of the refrigerator should be even across the door. Adjust the freezer door up or down as necessary, and tighten the screws securing the top hinge plate. Push the plastic cap over the top hinge plate once adjustments are complete.
