The Ground Subsided And A wing Broke
Dear Del
:
: I have an ornamental garden concrete statue that fell over when the
: ground beneath subsided a little. Its an angel sitting on a ball. The
: statue fell on one of its wings and there is now a large crack where the
: wing attaches to the body. Although the wing is still attached (has
: reinforcement) the crack needs urgent attention as it will continue to
: erode over time.
:
: Do you have any suggestion as to a concrete mix, slurry, paste or
: whatever that I could use to fill in the crack. The statue itself has a
: sandstone colour finish.
:
: I look forward to hearing from you.
:
:
: Kind regards

: Hello Anna:
I'm sorry I took so long to answer your e-mail.
The answer is fairly simple you probably thought of a by now, - Gorilla Glue!! Just follow the instructions on the container.
This stuff is fantastic in yield really be pleased with the results. When you're all done you may decide you want to stain or seal your statute. This is because will probably be a line where the crack was. If this doesn't bother you then no problem.
Thompson's water seal makes a lot of nice stains and stains and sealers. There are also a lot of really nice acrylic sealers and stains you can use.
Once the Gorilla Glue has done its work, if there is any depressions or cracks I would just fill then the using automotive body filler or a mix of five minute epoxy glue and some talcum powder. Once it's dry just sanded it smooth and apply your stain or paint.
You Could Also Use Some Water-Based Polyurethane Sealers. I Really like maize because they're easy to use and get really good results quickly. They're also pretty easy to find in your local building supply.
I hope this helps,
Bonne Chance, Del
