How to Remove Liquid Leather Stains

    • 1). Purchase a high quality leather cleaner like Lexol. There are a wide variety of options and prices for cleaners, but the price is generally directly related to its ability to remove stains. It's smart to invest a little extra in a bottle of good cleaner, especially if you've spent a lot on your leather goods. You’ll be thankful you did later.

    • 2). Apply your leather cleaner to a wet sponge. Check the instructions on your cleaner to determine how much to apply, as each product will be slightly different. Wring out any excess cleaner. You merely want your sponge to be moist, not soaking wet.

    • 3). Rub the stain gently in a circular motion with the sponge. Do not press down or scrub the leather hard. It is important to maintain a light touch during this step and simply use a constant circular brushing motion.

    • 4). Allow the stain and the cleaner to dry over night. Leather is temperamental and often does not look absolutely correct until it is dry. Give your scrubbed area time to dry before you begin to worry that you'll need to try cleaning the stain again.

    • 5). Repeat the cleaning process if the stain remains after the leather has dried. Certain liquids are more stubborn than others and require a little added attention. If a second layer still fails to clean the leather, you may want to phone a professional cleaning service for advice.

    • 6). Use a dry cloth to wipe off any excess cleaner that remains. You may also use a stiff brush to remove the cleaner. Simply let it dry and your leather is clean.
