How to Hang Lights Made from Wine Bottles
- 1). Use the wet tile cutter to cut out the bottom of the wine bottle. If this is your first time using a wet tile cutter, practice on another wine or beer bottle to get the hang of it. Although a wet tile cutter isn't difficult to use, it is helpful to practice so you get used to it.
- 2). Sand the cut edge of the bottom of the wine bottle, starting by using the 100-grit sandpaper. When you have removed the roughest part of the edge, use the 220-grit sandpaper to smooth it completely.
- 3). Buy a swag lamp kit in a color that matches your home décor. Swag lamp kits feature a chain, cord, and more, so they can be plugged into the electric on your wall. You can find swag lamp kits from Amazon.com, World Market, or any hardware or craft store.
- 4). Screw the lightbulb into the light socket, then feed the bulb and socket up through the bottom of the wine bottle and into the neck so that they wedge in place. The socket should fit right into the neck of the bottle.
- 5). Install the hook in the ceiling where you want the light to hang. Be sure it is close enough to an outlet so you can plug it in. Choose an area where the cord that reaches to the plug can be camouflaged. The swag lamp kit will come with directions that will help you mount the hook. Plug the hook into the wall outlet.
