How to Cut PVC Trim
- 1). Measure the size of the trim board to be cut using a tape measure; write down the measurement on a piece of paper. Measure along the PVC trim board and mark with a pencil at the desired spot. Make the mark straight across, using a T-square for a perfectly straight line. This will ensure the exact cut is made.
- 2). Set the miter saw on a work table so it is steady and does not sway or rock. Install a carbide-tipped blade on the saw. Line up the blade to the correct angle so the proper cut can be made. Slide the trim along the fence of the saw and move the blade down so it touches the line it is going to cut.
- 3). Plug in the miter saw and grasp the lever. Turn on the saw and pull down slowly on the lever. Push through the piece of trim and let go of the lever while raising up to turn off the saw.
- 4). Repeat this procedure for the other pieces of trim. For angle cuts, set the miter saw at the desired angle and cut in the exact same manner as before.
