How to Attach a Granite Countertop to a Cabinet
- 1). Clean the surface of the cabinet of any loose debris or dust.
- 2). Cut a piece of 3/4" plywood that will sit flush with the edges of the cabinet.
- 3). Lay a 1/4" bead of caulk across the top of the entire cabinet frame.
- 4). Set the plywood on top of the cabinet.
- 5). Lay a 1/4" bead of caulk across the surface of the plywood in lines every six inches.
- 6). Place the granite countertop on top of the plywood in its proper position. Do this in a manner that permits you to lower the granite directly into place so you do not have to shift it excessively to get it into the proper position.
- 7). Remove any caulk that has been extruded, with a putty knife and wash cloth.
- 8). Allow the caulk to set for 48 hours before applying any weight to the granite.
