The Proper Lighting of a Cubicle Workspace
- When possible, opt for full-spectrum lighting, sometimes called "grow lights" in lieu of fluorescent lights. Overhead fluorescent tubes are hard on the eyes and contribute to an overall uninviting environment.
- If fluorescent lighting cannot be replaced, enhance the cubicle with accent lighting from a table or floor lamp. It adds to the aesthetics of the cubicle space, while providing more restful lighting.
- If a cubicle is near a window, maximize natural daylight by using shorter panels and lighter-colored surfaces. This will increase daylight penetration and unify the output of electric lights that are used.
- If possible, incorporate dimmers to electrical lights to allow individual preferences of light levels.
