Corn Plant Care Tips
- Corn plants prefers bright, indirect light. They tolerate low light levels, but grow more slowly than in bright light. When moving a corn plant from low light to bright light, do so gradually. Never place a corn plant in direct sunlight.
- Corn plants grow slowly and don't receive direct sunlight, so they don't need a lot of water. Water only when the soil is dry at a depth of 2 inches. Fill the pot with water and let the water drain through. Pour off water that accumulates in the saucer.
- Corn plants like high humidity. To raise the humidity around the plant, set it on a tray filled with pebbles and water. Frequent misting helps, but the effects are temporary.
- Cleaning not only improves the appearance of the plant, but also allows the plant to breathe, and discourages spider mites. Gently rub the leaves with a soft cloth. As you clean the leaves, inspect the plant for insect pests. Never use oil-based products to polish or shine the leaves.
