How to Get Sober Faster

104 36

    Eat

    • 1). Order takeout, make a sandwich or grab some fast food. It doesn't really matter what you eat, having food in your stomach will reduce the effects of alcohol.

    • 2). Drink water with your meal. Water will not only reduce the effects of alcohol, it will prevent a hangover later.

    • 3). Act pre-emptively. If you have a full stomach and sip on some water before you start drinking, you will not be as intoxicated after having a few beers.

    Exercise

    • 1). Gauge how intoxicated you are. If you cannot walk a straight line, do not attempt any sort of exercise, or you could seriously harm yourself. If you are merely tipsy, you can attempt to exercise but should stop immediately, if you feel faint or cannot keep your balance.

    • 2). Do at least twenty jumping jacks, twenty crunches -- and take a five minute jog. Exercise gets your blood pumping, reduces shakiness and helps you feel more alert. You will feel more in control of yourself, after a short workout.

    • 3). Drink a large glass of water to stay hydrated.

    Consume Caffeine

    • 1). Grab a cup of coffee, or any other drink that contains caffeine. These will speed up your metabolism and give you an energy jolt, helping you feel more alert.

    • 2). Consider brewing a caffeinated tea, since it is less likely to dehydrate you than other drinks.

    • 3). Drink water after consuming coffee, soda or an energy drink. All of these will dehydrate you, which could lead to a nasty hangover later.

    Freshen Up

    • 1). Drink two cups of pink grapefruit juice. Grapefruit stimulates your liver and will keep you from smelling like you have been drinking. The antioxidants in grapefruit neutralize the odor of alcohol being secreted from your breath and pores.

    • 2). Wash your face, or take a shower using cold water. This will help you feel more alert, reduce any rosiness in your cheeks and soothe your bloodshot eyes.

    • 3). Change into fresh clothes. This will give you the clean, prepared appearance of someone who has not been drinking.
