Ceramic Scripture Crafts
- Most wood tables do not contain many design elements other than the wood's grain and stain color. Adding a ceramic scripture inlay to the center of a wood table not only enhances the table's aesthetic, but also creates a surface that is heat, water and scratch resistant. Choose one large piece of ceramic tile or a series of smaller scripture tiles. Measure the size of the ceramic inlay, and create a slightly larger space in the wood table to accommodate a grout line around the inlay. Place the scripture in your preferred direction.
- A single-word scripture on ceramic tiles creates a unique coaster set for coffee tables. Choose small square tiles with words such as "love," "dream" or "joy," and cut square pieces of felt about a half inch shorter than the tiles on each side. Thin felt will provide more stability for the coaster than thick. Glue the felt to the back of the scripture tile to prevent the ceramic from scratching the tabletop.
- Homemade mosaics can be created from pieces of broken tile, but using broken scripture tile is a way to add an elegant twist. Select ceramic scripture tiles with your choice of font, font size and words. Wrap one at a time in a cloth, and break it with a hammer. Spread a thick layer of grout around the outside of a clay flower pot. Place the ceramic scripture pieces into the grout, and cover any sharp tile edges with extra grout.
- One of the main requirements for a cheese board is a smooth, nonporous surface. A large piece of glazed ceramic scripture tile meets this requirement and adds a one-of-a-kind visual appeal. Purchase a large piece of ceramic scripture tile from a home improvement store, and have a representative drill a small hold near one end. Clean the tile with warm soapy water, and tie a cheese knife to the board using long twine looped through the drilled hole.
