Reverse Evolution

103 15
The consensus among those who would be classified as non Christians is that man has evolved from a lower life form.
Some believe man snaked his way up the life chain from a fish to four legged creatures and from there to two legged animalistic forms such as apes and gorillas.
If that theory is true, why do we still have monkeys and their similar ancestral phylum wandering menacingly around this sphere of chaotic confusion? There can be little doubt that much of the animal nature has evolved into human form.
To observe man's behavioral patterns, one sees a self promotion that not only dwarfs other living species, but in fact challenges God Himself.
I believe in evolution, but in a different way.
Instead of evolving from inferior life forms, man has evolved from the image of God to a self created life form that has little or no characteristics of a Divine nature.
Man was created as a similar and representative figure of God, (Genesis 1: 26) but due to Adam and Eve's independence he chose to evolve from a Godly influence to a life of self interest and promotion.
Since the inauguration of disobedience man has continued to dissolve his "godliness," while at the same time pursuing a life of evolving into the image of the created instead of the Creator.
All through the Scripture we see man moving further and further from a God centered to a self centered life.
Man has clearly been shown the handy work of God, but he has chosen to reject the Divine hand of the Creator by accepting the created works of his own doing.
(Romans 1: 20, 23) Man has evolved from "faith" to "sight"; from worshiping and serving the Creator to honoring and desiring the created.
(Rom.
1:25) Man has continued to spiral downward; from the heights to the depths; from divine trust to human reliance; from the wonderful and holy name of Jesus to using His name in common frustration.
The terrible reality of this truth is that man is aware of this evolutionary direction and its consequences, but still takes pleasure in pursuing the road to destruction.
(Romans 1: 32) Every so often we see signs of reverse evolution in Believers.
The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5: 22, 23) diminishes while the "works of the flesh" continue to grow.
(Galatians 5: 17- 21) To make sure this evolution epidemic does not creep into the assembly of believers, we must endorse John the Baptist determination that "He must increase, but I must decrease.
" (John 3: 30) The song writer, Charles Gabriel, put it so beautifully when he wrote the Hymn, MORE LIKE THE MASTER.
"More like the Master I would ever be, more of His meekness, more humility...
" Let us always learn to keep things in the right perspective knowing that "...
it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves...
" (Psalms 100: 3)
