To think that we will not suffer any loss in our life time is to fool ourselves! Whether monetary or emotional €" loss is a big deal to most of us and the emotional, physical, psychological trauma we undergo is very hard to overcome! Most of us cry for months and get it out of our system and think that time heals everything. Well, it is true in some way. But we need to help and motivate ourselves to overcome the loss and have a fresh start. Here are some techniques that can help you look at the brighter side of life and overcome the loss:
Get up and go out for a walk. It helps clearing your mind and focusing on solutions
Cry your heart out. Do not be ashamed. It is a natural way to cleanse yourself and your system. Tears help you get rid of toxins and pent up sadness or anger
Pray if you are a religious person. Talk to God! This is a great way to put words to your feelings and get it out of your system. You can do the same exercise with a stuffed toy, some picture, a chair, doll etc. basic theme is to direct your energy and anger and shove it out of your body. Withholding everything inside is dangerous and detrimental to physical and mental health
Put on soothing music to calm your frayed and tensed nerves
Try meditation
Recall what you loved as a kid €" gardening, getting drenched in the rain, dance, guitar etc. Pick it up yet again and see the difference in your emotional quotient
Do some physical exercise so that all frustration and toxins come out
See old photographs of childhood happy memories. It will help bring a smile on your face
If you cannot sleep well at night, try drinking orange juice!
Make sure you are surrounded for the better part of the day with friends and loved ones. They will inculcate all the positive energies in you
Talking to a 3rd person like a counselor helps!
If need be, do not feel shy to seek out professional help of support group. It is good to know that there are similar people out there in the world and God has not singled you out!
Well, overcoming loss is difficult and one needs to put in some effort to get your life back on track. Always remember, it is possible because your life does not end with one loss. Get up, chin up and start living once again!
