How to Paint Cupboards With Vinyl Wrap
- 1). Scrub away dirt and grime from the cupboard with a cotton rag or scrub sponge soaked in warm water and mild soap or dish detergent. Stains don't need to be removed, but surface dirt and sticky substances must be removed.
- 2). Lightly sand cupboard with 220-grit sandpaper to create a rough surface for paint and primer to properly stick to.
- 3). Clean away scrubs and dirt from sanding with a tack cloth so these particles will not damage the final look of your paint job.
- 4). Prime the cleaned cupboard with a primer that adheres to plastics, such as Aqualock. Apply a single coat with a stiff paintbrush, and allow this coat to dry for about an hour or to the touch. Apply a second coat and let this coat dry for a few hours. For best results, let it dry overnight.
- 5). Paint your cabinets with an acrylic latex paint in a color and finish of your choice using a foam brush or roller for a clean finish. You may also use an electric paint sprayer, which can leave you with a clean, smooth finish. Multiple coats may be necessary. Let each coat dry for about three hours before applying a new one.
