How to Apply Metallic Paint
- 1). Apply a latex primer to the wall with a paint roller. Allow the primer to dry overnight before adding the paint.
- 2). Use a 4 1/5 inch roller to paint the perimeter of the wall. Cover 20 inches at the top and bottom of the wall, as well as around all doors and other trim.
- 3). Use a 9-inch roller to cover the wall in 20-inch by 20-inch sections. Apply the paint in a "V" pattern, filling in one section completely before moving on to the next. Start at the top of the wall and move downwards. Once one column of paint is complete, make a continuous floor to ceiling pass with the roller to blend the sections together.
- 4). Minimize the overlap between columns to avoid uneven coverage on the wall. Allow the first coat of paint to dry for at least four hours.
- 5). Apply a second coat of paint using the same "V" pattern method.
