How to Change an Upright Vacuum Belt
- 1). Unplug the vacuum from the wall. Lay it flat on the ground or floor so that you can easily access the bottom of the cleaner.
- 2). Locate the brush roller, which is generally found on the front of the sweeper. Remove any screws that are holding the cover over the brush roller in place. There are normally three or four located at the corners of the cover.
- 3). Remove the cover for the brush roller and inspect the belt. Pull the belt out if it has broken; if not then pull the brush roller out. The brush roller will just pull right out of the casing. The belt will hold one side in place, but that side will come out as the other side is pulled out.
- 4). Pull the belt out from around the motor pulley that is located behind the left wheel. Put the new belt around the motor pulley.
- 5). Pull the belt away from the bottom of the sweeper, and place the brush roller end inside the belt. The end that the belt attaches to is the end that does not have bristles. Align the brush roller with the casing, and insert it into the casing.
- 6). Place the brush roller cover back on, and screw in all screws. Plug it in. Turn the sweeper on to test the new belt.
