Stinky Litter Box? Check Out My Review of NOse Offense
About.com Rating
NOse Offense for Pets is an odorless, environmentally safe spray designed to remove pet odors as well as other household odors. It can even be used to safely remove odors from dogs and cats, including challenging skunk spray, by spraying enough NOse Offense to moisten a cloth, then rubbing the damp cloth on the pet's fur.
Clinical Trials for Safety*
NOse Offense Odor Neutralizer and Eliminator was tested in 2011 for four different toxic effects:
- Acute Inhalation Toxicity: NOse Offense was found to be classified as Toxicity Category IV, meaning that it is not toxic by inhalation.
- Acute Oral Toxicity: NOse Offense was found to meet the requirements of EPA Category IV, indicating that it is not toxic by oral ingestion.
- Acute Eye Irritation Study. NOse Offense was found not to be an eye irritant
- Insult Patch Test on 51 Subjects. NOse Offense was Dermatologist-Tested and found not associated with skin irritation or allergic contact dermatitis on human subjects.

My Tests of NOse Offense
Note: Nature gives cat feces a strong odor for the purpose of marking a cat's territory in the wild for not only his benefit in finding it again, but also as a warning to other predators to stay away.
For that reason, I would not expect NOse Offense nor any other odor eliminator product to eliminate the odor from a litter box full of cat poop. NOse Offense did completely eliminate the lingering odor of a scooped litter box.
It should also be pointed out that NOse Offense is not a stain remover. It removes unpleasant odors but there are other products for removing stains.
Other Pet Uses for NOse Offense
- Remove Urine Odor From Carpet: Although the company recommends doing a small test spray in an inconspicuous area of carpeting and fabric, in the case of carpets, I'd much prefer some slight color variation to the scent of dried cat urine.
- Spray Sofas and Chairs: If the furniture is leather, wipe it dry after spraying. With cloth furniture, the manufacturer recommends a test spray in a small area.
- Freshen Cat Carriers and Liners: Spray the inside of cat carriers and their fabric liners to eliminate odors from previous use. Follow up with a spray of Feliway to soothe the cat for his next trip in the carrier, probably to the vet.
- Stop Territorial Spraying: Sometimes cats mark their territory against their own housemates by spraying urine on walls or doorways. I'd also suggest spraying both sides of exterior doors to discourage territorial spraying between your cat and a neighboring cat or feral cat.
More Suggested Uses for NOse Offense
- Cigarettes, cigars and other smoking device odors left in ashtrays and other receptacles. NOse Offense does a credible job in removing these noxious odors and clearing smoking areas of the odor of tobacco smoke.
- After cleaning it, spray the inside of the vegetable drawer of a refrigerator to remove the lingering odor of spoiled vegetables, including onions.
- Spray inside the opening of a garbage disposal system after each use.
- Spray inside closets and dresser drawers to keep clothing smelling fresh and clean
- Spray inside shoes, especially tennis shoes, running shoes, and other shoes worn frequently.
- When vacationing, spray the insides of suitcases and cosmetic cases before packing. Spray the interior of your car before you leave. Bring the travel sized bottle to spray the hotel room and bathroom to eliminate lingering odors.
I will be taking a short trip after the publication of this review. You can bet I'll be using my travel bottle of NOse Offense, both during the packing of my luggage and during the trip.
It is without hesitation that I give this product a 5 Star Rating, as a versatile, safe odor eliminator that does exactly what it claims to do: eliminate pet-related as well as other odors safely and efficiently.
