Tom Cats Fighting
If you are having problems with tom cats fighting then I think I can help you out.
I like with a female cat and a tom cat and they get along fine.
But, every so often my cat encounters a neighbourhood cat outside and they have a fight.
Here are some of my top tips for stopping tom cats fighting.
It Is All About Territory - Cats are animals and are therefore very territorial.
They feel threatened a little like we do when an animal comes into the place that they live.
What you might want to do is block of the ways that other cats are coming in or out of the garden.
Or at least minimize them.
This will stop the awful sounds in the night and you being scared for your cats life.
Punish Them - If a cat is fighting then they need to be punished.
They need to be shown that this bad behaviour will simply not do.
So what you do is find a way to punish the tom cats as they are fighting.
As soon as you see them do it you have to punish them as quickly as possible.
You should never hit them but banging some pots near them should do it or spraying some water on them.
I always seriously recommend that you try your best to not let them see you spraying or banging the pots because they will only behave when you are around.
They will still make those horrible tom cat fighting noises in the night.
Are They Bored? - Do you find that the cats are bored all the time? This might be a reason to fight.
Simple out of boredom.
I know it sounds silly but when they have nothing else to do cats look around for something.
If they are eating or playing or being stroked you are bonding with them and they will not be bored.
What Are They Fighting Over? - When tom cats are fighting it is usually over something that they feel there is not enough or to go around so they want it all for themselves.
We used to have one basket near the radiator and the bigger cat would fight the smaller one so it could get the place next to the radiator.
We eventually got them a basket each and they do not fight anymore.
It is simple to solve, finding out what the problem is tends to be the hardest part.
