How to Repair My Maytag Washing Machine

    • 1). Check that you have chosen the correct washing cycle for the type fabric you're washing. Choose the highest spin speed allowed for the fabric. If you select "low spin" or "no spin," the Maytag washing machine may not get all the water out of your clothes.

    • 2). Make sure to choose the appropriate washing cycle for the fabric you're washing. The Maytag washer will drain more slowly on the "Delicate" cycle or the "Hand Wash" cycle.

    • 3). Add more pieces of clothing to the load of wash. If you just wash a single large item, like a blanket or coat, the washer can become unbalanced and reacts by lowering its spin speed, which will cause the machine not to drain normally during the spin cycle.

    • 4). Look for excessive soap suds building up in the Maytag washer. Maytag suggests using only high efficiency detergent in its washers. Other detergents might cause excessive soap suds, which may cause the machine to run at a slower spin speed than you choose, resulting in clothes that are sopping wet.

    • 5). Examine the drain hose for clogs and kinks. Straighten the hose out to allow the water to flow through normally.

    • 6). Check that the washer is level, or the washer may begin to "walk" or get out of balance. If it isn't sitting level, you may need to place wooden blocks under whichever side of the washer you need to so you can level it out.
