    Paper Plate Lion

    • Create a lion's face and mane using a paper bowl and plate. Color the bottom of the bowl brown or tan using crayons or paint. Place the bowl upside down on the paper plate, which should be facing up. Trace a light circle around the bowl with a pencil. Color the area on the plate outside of the circle orange. Cut many parallel slits into the orange portion of the circle, creating a fringed look. This will serve as the lion's mane. Glue the bowl onto the center of the plate, upside down. When the glue has dried, draw the lion's eyes, nose and mouth with a black or brown marker.

    Noodle Lion

    • This activity is colorful, hands-on and simple enough for young children to enjoy. Draw or print a simple outline of a lion's face on a white sheet of paper. Make enough copies for each child. Decorate the inside of the lion's face with crayons, markers or even glitter. Glue multi-colored spiral pasta around the edges of the face to create a three-dimensional mane. Arrange the pasta in curved rows so that one end faces in and the other out, resembling sun rays.

    Lion Puppet

    • Make a lion puppet using an brown paper lunch bag. Print or draw a picture of a lion's face. Color and cut out the face. Glue the cutout to the bottom of the paper bag. Show the children how to make the lion "talk" with their hands. Set out an array of materials they may use to create the lion's mane. Include curled orange ribbon, yarn, felt and any other suitable supplies you have available.

    Lion's Den

    • Create a lion's den in which to tell the story of Daniel. Depending on your surroundings and the number of children participating, you may use a large closet, a storage room or an entire classroom. Close the blinds or cover any windows with paper. Let the children spread out raffia in the central area of the "den," as well as any other items you have available that may set the mood. Create boulders in various sizes using paper mache. Place the largest boulder at the "entrance" of the den to symbolize the boulder that sealed Daniel in the den overnight.
