How to Recover an Octagon Stool
- 1). Turn the stool upside down and use the screwdriver to remove the seat from it. If you cannot take the seat off, don't worry about it.
- 2). Spread a 2-inch thick layer of batting over the octagon-shaped seat. The ends of the batting should stretch over the sides of the seat. Pull tightly on the batting so that the shape of the seat is apparent.
- 3). Staple the batting to the underside of the seat. Use one staple for each side of the seat. If the seat is still attached to the chair, staple it as best as you can, being careful not to wrap the batting around the stool's legs.
- 4). Cut the fabric into an octagon shape that is 3 inches wider on all sides than the seat.
- 5). Smooth the fabric over the seat, right side up. Center the fabric so that 3 inches hang off of the seat on all sides.
- 6). Bring the ends of the fabric under the seat and pull very tightly. Staple the fabric to the underside of the seat, using one staple per side.
- 7). Re-attach the seat to the stool if needed, using the original screws.
