How to Decorate a Chinese Themed Room
- 1). Remove clutter from the room. Chinese-themed rooms focus on the intriguing aspects of the design and color present in the decor. Too many knickknacks or other types of clutter distract the eye from the decor.
- 2). Paint the walls a neutral color, such as off-white or taupe. This provides a simplistic background for the strong graphics of Eastern-inspired art.
- 3). Hang a fountain on the wall or display a table fountain on an end table or other area. The soothing sounds of moving water helps create a calming environment.
- 4). Add furniture that contains black to give the room form and definition. For instance, if you have a black leather sofa, incorporate the black in the trim of framed pictures or as an accent color in the other knickknacks in the room.
- 5). Invest in accessories that contain rich tones of red and gold to add bright splashes of color around the room. Display a Chinese fan or kite on the wall as decor.

Set a carved ivory figurine on top of a sleek, black lacquer table or hang an ornate tapestry against a plain, neutral-colored wall.
