How to Make Curtains Easily
- 1). Measure the window and make a note of the dimensions. These curtains will be almost exactly the length of the window, depending on the height of the curtain rod. If you want the curtains to be longer, add the extra length now before you cut the fabric.
- 2). Fold the fabric in half, and cut the fabric to the dimensions you just calculated. Cut the fabric directly on the fold line. This gives you two curtain panels.
- 3). Sew using a sewing machine set to a decorative stitch or a serger, all the way around each panel.
- 4). Measure the top edge of each curtain panel, and make a small mark, using the tailor's chalk. Make a mark approximately every 5 inches, but you should adjust the length so the marks are evenly spaced.
- 5). Set the sewing machine to make a buttonhole stitch, and make a 1/2-inch horizontal button hole. Cut a slit in the center of each buttonhole, for inserting the curtain rings. Slide the rings over the curtain rod to hang the curtains.
