Lightly sketch a composition of your arrangement on the canvas. You don't need to draw in detail, just general shapes. You will later paint over the pencil marks. - 3

Set up the palette with a drop of paint from each tube. Beginning with your chosen dominate color, paint the first flower using the flat bristle brush. Move about painting the flowers with this color. It is important to maintain a consistent style of brush stroke. Using different brushstrokes from one area of the painting to another will fragment your work. Implement a cross-hatched stroke: Paint a stroke in one direction, then turn the brush to cross back over the first stroke. Continue loosely rendering the flowers. - 4
