106 166
In some parts of the country, the temperatures are already screaming summertime even though the first official day of the season isn't until June 21st. In honor of the upcoming day, let's take a walk down memory lane and throwback to 5 years of our favorite Christian songs that followed the temps, peaking at the top of the scale.

1. "Holy Spirit" - Francesca Battistelli (2015)

Found on If We're Honest, Francesca Battistelli's "Holy Spirit" currently sits at #1 in the Top Christian Songs chart.

From the song ...

I've tasted and seen
Of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone
Your presence, Lord

2. "Shoulders" - For King & Country (2015)

Found on Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong., "Shoulders" currently sits at #2 in the Top Christian Songs chart.

From the song ...

My help comes from You
You're right here, pulling me through
You carry my weakness, my sickness, my brokenness all on Your shoulders
Your shoulders

3. "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" - United (2014)

The single found on Zion swept the 2014 Dove Awards winning Song of the Year, Worship Song of the Year, Contemporary Christian Performance of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year.

From the song ...

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand

4. "We Believe" - Newsboys (2014)

Newsboys "We Believe" came from Restart, the 16th studio album from the Christian rockers.

From the song ...

In this broken generation
When all is dark, You help us see
There is only one foundation
We believe, we believe

5. "Every Good Thing" - The Afters (2013)

"Every Good Thing" was the lead song from Life Is Beautiful. Upbeat and perfect for radio, the song garnered the band tons of new fans.

From the song ...

You're the reason for
Every Good Thing
Every heartbeat
Every day we get to breathe

6. "Words" - Hawk Nelson f/ Bart Millard (2013)

The first Hawk Nelson release without Jason Dunn came to us as Words in 2013. Jonathon Steingard  got a little help from MercyMe's Bart Millard on the vocals and it sounded like the two had been singing together forever.

From the song ...

You can heal the heartache
Speak over the fear
God, your voice is the only thing we need to hear

7. "The Hurt & The Healer" - MercyMe (2012)

The title track from the 2012 release summed up the theme of the entire album, which Bart Millard described as "a celebration of that moment when these two worlds collide: the deep need for healing and the God who provides it."

From the song ...

I'm alive
Even though a part of me has died
You take my heart and breathe it back to life
I fall into your arms open wide
When the hurt and the healer collide

8. "Where I Belong" - Building 429 (2012)

Building 429 released Listen To The Sound in 2011 and while the title track only made it to #4 on Billboard, the second single, "Where I Belong," shot all the way to the top.

From the song ...

All I know is I'm not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong

9. "You Love Me Anyway" - Sidewalk Prophets (2011)

The single from These Simple Truths showed off a country sound that the band did so well, one would think that they had been performing in the genre for years.

From the song ...

It took more than my strength
To simply be still
To seek but never find
All the reasons we change
The reasons I doubt
And why do loved ones have to die?

10. "Blessings" - Laura Story (2011)

The song that won Laura Story a Grammy, a Billboard Music Award and five Doves was written after Laura Story's husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor and then was exposed to meningitis during the surgery to remove it. While no one would call either thing a blessing, the way that God showed up and held the two of them in His hands definitely was.

From the song ...

'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if the thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
