Any noise caused during sleeping emitted through the respiratory track is known as snoring.
The vibration caused in the air passages that connect the nose and the mouth due to extra relaxed throat muscles causes a person to snore.
Narrower the air passes, more vibration it produces as air forces itself out causing the loud snores.
However, it is not necessary that a person snores at night only as snoring is induced whenever the throat muscles relax and it can happen each time the person takes a nap also.
The tissues inside the throat become very soft and relaxed, when the person sleeps just like other muscles in the body.
Thus the air passages narrow down and when we breathe, the inhalation and exhalation causes the tissues to vibrate leading to the noise.
The snores can range from mild to heavy, which actually depends upon the pressure of air being passed which is directly proportionate to the noise it produces.
Snoring is not restricted to adults only but even babies' snore sometimes.
If you have a baby or a child who snores regularly, show him to a doctor immediately as it may be a sign of respiratory disease or an allergy.
There are many reasons that a person snores which include allergies, side effect of some medicines, intake of dairy products at bedtime and many others.
However, a lingering question always persists as to why is that men snore more than women? Well, after a considerable amount of research, it was found out that men snore more as men's neck is wider than a woman's and thus, there is more fatty deposits and fleshy tissue that vibrates in comparison to a women's neck.
Women also produce Progesterone hormone that is considered to help reduce or to some extent prevent snoring.
With some research, new anti snoring medication for men contains this hormone to help fight the snoring syndrome.
Looking at it objectively, there are various lifestyle changes that are required if you are thinking about improving your life and eliminating snoring.
Obesity, extra weight and habits of drinking and smoking go a great length to increase chances of snoring.
However, proper diet and exercise can definitely aid in reducing snoring.
To combat habitual night time snores, there are many over the counter medication and other devices that are known to have helped people.
Nasal and throat sprays help in lubricating the air passages and can help reduce the obnoxious noise that snoring produces by reducing or completely eliminating snoring from the bedroom.
Apart from the health issues that snoring accompanies, snoring creates rift between couples.
It is immaterial whether you are married or living in, but due to snoring this intimacy is ripped apart while the non snoring partner leaves the bedroom to catch up on the much needed sleep which is not possible while sleeping with a snoring partner.
It becomes essential to look for a good anti snoring remedy as soon as possible.
