Unlucky Real Madrid vs Sporting Gijon
Real Madrid was defeated by Sporting Gijon last Saturday at Santiago Bernabeu after having played 150 home games and never lost one.
The match got the visit of the recently retired, who was given tribute by the two team captains and Madrid chiefs Florentino Perez and Jorge Valdano before the kick-off. Bernabeu crowd also felt happy to see the Brazilian player and gave him a warm welcome.
After four and a half seasons with Real Madrid, Ronaldo left the club in January of 2007. However, after five years, his passion for Madridismo is still alive and well today.
Unfortunately, the other Ronaldo had to miss the game because of his hamstring injury. Benzema and Marcelo couldn't play due to several injuries and Xabi Alonso missed the match because of suspension. Therefore, the lack of creativity was noticeable against a team that defended fiercely and didn't attack. The only creative player left in the pitch was Ozil.
The game started and it was Miguel de las Cuevas who scored a goal at minute 12 of the Real Madrid vs Sporting Gijon.
Madrid players didn't manage to score any goal, although they had many chances one, two, three, four and five metres away from target. Was it the lack of Cristiano Ronaldo? Were they unlucky?
Anyway, after such an undeserved defeat, Real Madrid didn't surrender and soon went back to work to prepare for the Champions League Tuesday's 20:45 CET match against Tottenham Hotpsur at Valdebebas behind closed doors.
Real Madrid's special guest, Ronaldo, confessed the Spanish team is his favorite to win the tie against Tottenham. Despite the fact that Tottenham is a tough rival and the competition will be difficult, he thinks the Spanish will be victorious. Why? Because they count on a great coach, the talent of Cristiano Ronaldo and the style of Benzema which reminds him of his own style.
Is Ronaldo right or will Real Madrid be unlucky again?
