Step One - Before You Begin
Definition of a Spiral
Before you begin the spiral, you’ll want to put some practice into good edge control. Start by perfecting a good straight forward or backward edge, either inside or outside in a vertical upright position.
Step Two - Spiral Free Leg Position
From a "banana" position, bring your body forward and your free leg up to the same level as your head; you should now be in a horizontal position. Keep your free leg extended and turn out the toe.
Step Three - Practice on Straight Lines and on Curves
You should now try doing spirals on curves and in straight lines.
Remember to push yourself a bit and practice spirals on both your good and bad feet!
To get over the fear of doing spirals, try alot of back spirals. When you do a back spiral there is no danger of falling forward sudddenly.
